Brass Bull idol For Home Decor
A brass bull, particularly a Nandi idol, holds profound significance and a variety of uses in Hindu traditions and Vastu Shastra. Nandi is the sacred bull, the devoted vehicle (vahana), gatekeeper, and most ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.
- In Pooja Room/Home Altar (with Shiva Lingam):
- Primary Placement: If you have a Shiva Lingam or a Shiva idol, a brass Nandi is almost always placed in front of it, facing the Lingam/idol. This replicates the arrangement found in Shiva temples and signifies his eternal devotion and readiness to serve.
-
Focus for Worship: Nandi can be part of daily worship. Offerings of flowers, incense, and prayers can be made to Nandi as a symbol of devotion before proceeding to worship Lord Shiva.
- Shrungadarshan: In temples, there’s a tradition called “Shrungadarshan” where devotees look at the Shiva Lingam through the space between Nandi’s horns, symbolizing seeing the divine through the path of devotion.
